The Supporting Service Lifecycles

The Intricate Clock Mechanism
The service lifecycle is enabled and sustained by nine supporting lifecycles. Each supporting lifecycle helps another lifecycle as well as working as part of a greater order-fulfillment driven scheme and typically consists of six major stages.

Together theses lifecycles and the service lifecycle are analogous to the mechanism of a clock. They have a common purpose, in the case of a clock - to offer an accurate time.

The following diagram showing the Change lifecycle, an element of the Service Revision Lifecycle.

The complete list of supporting lifecycles is:

  • Requirement lifecycle;
  • Request lifecycle;
  • Revision lifecycle;
  • Asset lifecycle;
  • Release lifecycle;
  • Change lifecycle;
  • Event lifecycle;
  • Support lifecycle;
  • Quality lifecycle;

The governance framework controls when each supporting lifecycle plays a role by engaging and disengaging activities in the service lifecycle.
