Service Release Management
The term ‘release’ is used to describe a collection of authorized ands related changes to the service infrastructure. The content of a release is governed by policies covering the size and scope of changes allowed, the frequency and timing. Service release management is the knowledge area associated with the design, planning and installation of releases for services offered by the service provider organization.
Charter Statement:

To plan, design, build, configure, test a risk-acceptable release consisting of related changes to service infrastructure.

To securely control and manage the physical storage, packaging and deployment and implementation of infrastructure components required to support services, and to avoid problems with licensing and different or incompatible versions in use.
